I first encountered Pink Moon through Volkswagen’s unforgettable 1999 Cabriolet commercial, Milky Way. Though originally released in 1972, the song’s haunting simplicity drew me in, its quiet power leaving a lasting impression. At the time, I had no idea that my own path would lead to a decade-long career in advertising. While the title track has since become iconic in the ad world, Nick Drake’s entire final studio album remains just as mesmerizing. With only his voice and guitar, Drake crafted a work of enduring beauty—serene, introspective, and profoundly timeless.
